The Past

Ipswich City Square was built in 1985 by Kern Corporation and was officially opened in August 1987. The Centre was purchased in 1992 by Memo Corporation who owned and managed the centre for some years.

In March 2009 Ipswich City Properties (a company 100% owned by Ipswich City Council) purchased Ipswich City Square as part of the proposed Ipswich CBD billion dollar plus redevelopment.

The Future

Preparation for the proposed Ipswich CBD billion dollar plus redevelopment is well underway, with two developer submissions currently under review and an announcement of the joint venture expected by December 2010.
